Heavy-Duty air filters are cylindrical and the air flows in a spiral around the filter causing heavier particles to flow out of the ejector rather than plug the filter. This means cleaner air for the engine and extended time between filter changes. Note that the cleanliness of the air going into the engine is critical to the life of the engine. Using high-pressure air to clean the filter can damage the micron rating of the filter and lead to loss of compression and increased oil consumption—clean filters by tapping them or using a vacuum.
