Interstate Batteries, which provides reliable power to all Wright mowers, shares Wright's standards and has been voted one of the top 100 places to work in the Dallas/Fort Worth area for three years straight. In fact, Interstate Batteries was 14th among the top 25 large companies in the area.
Interstate Batteries began in 1950 with owner John Searcy selling batteries to wholesalers in Dallas, using the back of his Studebaker pickup truck as an "office." Within two years Searcy founded Interstate Battery System, which he named after the interstate system just beginning built across the U.S.
The list was determined when 42,369 employees from 215 companies filled out surveys about their jobs. Interstate Batteries was among the Dallas businesses whose ratings were 8.2 percent higher than the national average on the statements: "I feel genuinely appreciated at this company," and "My pay is fair for the work I do."
Wright customers also pride themselves on how their mowers use the same battery brand that many race car drivers trust. Interstate Batteries has enjoyed a 20-year partnership with Joe Gibbs Racing. Interstate Batteries sponsors a car which races in the Auto Club 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup, the Las Vegas 300, and has run the Daytona International Speedway.
